The Bauer Core Facility houses a Flow Cytometry Core where we provide users with cell sorters, analyzers, and particle counters through a mix of self-use and staff-run service.

For more information, see our list of [instrumentation](/instrument-details) and [fees](/fees).

## New to the Core or Need Training?

For inquiries about a new sorting projects or to be trained on our instruments, please email the [Flow Core Staff. ](mailto:flowcore-list@lists.fas.harvard.edu%20)

## Analyzers

The core has three analyzers; a 5-laser Cytek Aurora spectral analyzer, a 5-laser BD FACSymphony A3 and a 4-laser BD LSRFortessa. All three analyzers have a High-Throughput Sampler (HTS) option to accommodate running a plate. The BD FACSymphony A3 and BD LSRFortessa are traditional analyzers capable of running a 23 color and 10 color panel, respectively. The Cytek Aurora is a high-resolution spectral analyzer capable of resolving a 40 color panel.

## Sorters

The core houses several sorters, including; a 7-laser Beckman Coulter Astrios, 4-laser Beckman Coulter XDP, 5-laser BD FACSAria Fusion, 5-laser BD FACSAria II, 4-laser BD FACSAria III and a 3-laser Union Biometrica large particle sorter. The Astrios, XDP and Fusion are in a biohood for BSL2 work. Numerous nozzle sizes are available for each sorter to accommodate a wide range of cell sizes. All sorters can sort into a variety of tube and plate options and offer sample cooling/heating capabilities. Researchers can request staff-run for any sorter or we can train for independent self-run sorting of any of the BD sorters or large particle sorter.
