Sample Analysis and QC
Fragment Analysis and Quantification
Agilent TapeStation 4200
The TapeStation rapidly analyzes the size and quantity of RNA and DNA samples. Tapes allow for small-scale gel electrophoresis using very little sample. Each tape can analyze up to 16 samples which may be run all together or at different times over two weeks.
For more information, see Agilent's website.
Agilent Femto Pulse
The Femto Pulse analyzes samples using pulsed-field capillary electrophoresis. It is ideal for analyzing High Molecular Weight gDNA and low-concentration RNA samples.
For more information, see Agilent's website.
Agilent Bioanalyzer 2100
The Bioanalyzer uses microfluidic technology to perform automated quantification and sizing to analyze RNA, DNA, and proteins..
For more information, see Agilent's website.
Qubit Fluorometer
The Qubit enables precise quantification of dsDNA, ssDNA, RNA, and protein using a fluorescent dye.
For more information, see Thermo Fisher's website.
Spectrophotometers- Sample Purity
NanoDrop ND-1000 Spectrophotometer
The Nanodrop is a UV-Visible Spectrophotometer designed to read the absorbance of 1-2 µl samples without a cuvette. Most samples can be run without dilution. It has a wavelength range of 220-750nm.
For more information, see Thermo Fisher's website.
Denovix DS-11
The DS-11 is a UV-Visible Spectrophotometer capable of measuring the absorbance of samples using only 1 µl. It has a wavelength range of 190-840nm.
For more information, see Denovix's website.
Automated Size Selection
Blue Pippin & Pippin Prep
Sage Science's pippin instruments perform automated size selection for many sample types, such as High Molecular Weight gDNA and tight library size selection.
For more information, see Sage Science's website.

Nucleic Acid Shearing
Covaris S220
The Covaris S220 system's controlled, reproducible DNA shearing method generates fragments with tight size distributions centered from 100 to 5000 bp. To request Covaris shearing service, please email this form to Core Staff.
For more information, see Covaris' website.
Fisher 550 Sonicator
Used for DNA fragmentation and cell disruption.
For more information, see Fisher Scientific's website.
Diagenode Megaruptor 3
For more information, see Diagenode's website.
Tissue Dissociation and Homogenization
GentleMACS Octo Dissociator
The GentleMACS is a benchtop instrument for automated tissue dissociation for single-cell suspensions or tissue homogenization for RNA isolation of up to eight samples at a time. The instrument uses specially designed disposable tubes that depend on your application. Typical samples used on the instrument include human or mouse tumors, neural tissues, and heart or brain samples, and it can also handle plant samples for nuclei isolation. Researchers can be trained to use the instrument independently. To learn about using this instrument, please Core Staff.
For more information, see Miltenyi's website.
Imaging Systems
Azure Sapphire Imager
This multimode imager acquires fluorescent, chemiluminescent, and phosphor images with a resolution down to 10 microns. Fluorescent detection uses 4 lasers/filters: ex 488/em 518 bp22, ex 520/em 565 bp24, ex 658/em 710 bp40, ex 785/em 832 bp37. RGB fluorescent signal is captured using a PMT, while NIR is captured with an avalanche photodiode. Chemiluminescent and visible images are captured with a high-resolution CCD camera.
For more information, see Azure's website.
Azure c200 Imager
This gel imager uses UV for Ethidium bromide-stained DNA gels, blue light for SYBRSafe or similar dyes, and white light for Silver stain or Coomassie Blue.
For more information, see Azure's website.
